Objectives

The objectives of the OpenSS7 Project are as follows:

Device Drivers
  • Support for some popular Linux PC cards which have existing opensource drivers for WAN (V.35 synchronous) use.
    • Certification of SS7 Signalling Link Interface (SLI) card drivers to ITU-T Q.781, ETSI ETS 300 008-2 and Telcordia GR-905-CORE.
    • Support for a wide range of cards (both price range and capabilities).
    • CompactPCI support
    • M2PA and IPlink support
    • MTP3b support
Signalling Link
  • Implementation of SS7 L2 State Machines and primitive interface (Signalling Link) SL pushable STREAMS module.
    • SS7 L2 State Machines and primitive interface (Signalling Data Terminal) SDT pushable STREAMS module.
    • Certification of SS7 L2 State Machines in SL/SDT STREAMS module to ITU-T Q.781, ETSI ETS 300 008-2 and Telcordia GR-905-CORE.
    • M2UA support
    • Full SNMP support.
    • Complete Q.752, ANSI T1.116 L2 operational support.
Message Transfer Part
  • Implementation of SS7 L3 (MTP) State Machines and primitive interface (Message Transfer Part) MTP STREAMS multiplexing driver.
    • Certification of SS7 L3 State Machines in STREAMS driver to ITU-T Q.782, ETSI ETS 300 008-2, and Telcordia GR-905-CORE.
    • Support for multiple point code transfer function (STP).
    • Support for major national variants and national options (TFR, TFC).
    • Support for multiple redundant hosts.
    • Support for GSM-A.
    • M3UA, IPSP and TALI support.
    • Full SNMP support.
    • Complete Q.752, ANSI T1.116 L3 operational support.
Signalling Connection Control Part
  • Implementation of SS7 L4 (SCCP) State Machines and primitive interface (Signalling Connection Control Part) SCCP STREAMS multiplexing driver linking SS7 L3 interface.
    • Certification of SCCP state machines for connection-less and connection oriented subsystem operation to ITU-T Q.783, ETSI and Telcordia GR-905-CORE.
    • Support for Global Title Translations and Local Number Portability.
    • Support for all protocol classes (0, 1, 2 and 3).
    • SUA and TALI support.
    • Full SNMP support.
    • Complete Q.752, ANSI T1.116 L4 operational support.
Transaction Capabilities Application Part
  • Implementation of SS7 L5 (TCAP) State Machines and primitive interface (Transaction Capabilities Application Part) TCAP STREAMS driver multiplexing driver linking SS7 L4 interface.
    • Implementation of TR and TC state machines (AP left to application).
    • Development of an ASN.1 translator for TCAP application part specification and updates.
    • Certification of TCAP state machines for all operations classes.
    • Support for major national and international variants.
    • Support for all operations classes (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5).
    • Support for OMAP.
    • Support for TUA.
    • Full SNMP support.
    • Complete Q.752, ANSI T1.116 L5 operational support.
Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) User Part
  • Implementation of SS7 L5 (ISUP) State Machines and primitive interface (Integrated Services Digital Network User Part) ISUP STREAMS driver linking SS7 L4 interface.
    • Certification of ISUP state machines in STREAMS driver to ITU-T Q.784, ETSI and Telcordia GR-905-CORE.
    • Support for Circuit Management.
    • Support for COT testing and Test calls.
    • Support for major national variants and national options.
    • Support for media (bearer channel) switching.
    • Support for ISUA.
    • Support for BICC.
    • Full SNMP support.
    • Complete Q.752, ANSI T1.116.7 operational support.
Applications
  • Implementation of applications frameworks and a sampling of applications.
    • A framework for implementation of TCAP applications.
    • A sampling of TCAP applications (e.g. IS-41C MAP, AIN).
    • A framework for implementation of ISUP applications.
    • A sampling of ISUP applications (e.g. basic switching).
    • A framework for implementation of GSM-A interface applications.
    • A sampling of GSM-A applications (e.g. basic switching).
