OpenSS7 has no relation to these other things which come up on a search for
SS7:
- It is not a motherboard.
- It is not a health care system.
- It is not a database interface.
OpenSS7 does not provide a complete ISUP or TCAP stack. It is a platform upon
which you can build a Softswitch (but it is not one). It is a platform upon
which you can build TCAP applications (INAP, MAP), but it does not yet provide
these applications.
OpenSS7 isn't MAP, it isn't AIN, and it isn't an application. Consider it
similar to an IP stack with TCP and UDP. You can open an MTP, SCCP, ISUP or
TCAP stream and communicate to the outside world using SS7, you can even bind
to an ISUP trunk or TCAP subsystem, but what you might want to do with that
socket is a matter for the application.
There are a number of opensource projects which are concerned with the
application level using SS7.
