SS7 MTP2-User Peer-to-Peer Adaptation Layer (M2PA)


Overview:-	This is the SS7 MTP2-User Peer-to-Peer Adaptation Layer (M2PA) network driver of the OpenSS7 SIGTRAN stack. This component implements the M2PA functions in a STREAMS module. The M2PA STREAMS module provides the Signalling Link Interface (SLI). The M2PA STREAMS module can be pushed over a Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) or other Transport Provider Interface (TPI) stream to provide an M2PA SS7 link.

History:-	The M2PA component was started in January 2001.

Status:-	The M2PA component of the OpenSS7 stack is in the Maintenance stage; however, it has been rewritten on a number of occasions.

Dependencies:-	This component depends on the SS7 MTP Level 2 Signalling Link Interface (SLI) and Transport Provider Interface (TPI) access to the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) or other transports.

Code:-	Code has been publicly released and can be viewed here. Code that conforms to current M2PA drafts has not yet been publicly released. Please see the CVS Archives Page for more information on obtaining access to the current code. Current M2PA code will be released in the next major released of the OpenSS7 SIGTRAN stack.

Test Results:-	Test programs and results for Q.781 conformance testing (in accordance with draft-bidulock-sigtran-m2pa-test-02.txt) are available in the test sub-directory of the strss7 release code. Preliminary PICS and PIXIT Proforma for the M2PA network driver are available here.

Release Package:-	The M2PA driver is an integral part of the OpenSS7 SIGTRAN stack and will be included in upcoming major releases. The M2PA driver has been publicly released in the following release packages: strss7-0.8.2.tgz This is the current Linux 2.4.x LiS STREAMS release of the OpenSS7 SS7 and SIGTRAN stacks. strss7-0.7.8.tgz This is a deprecated release which is replaced by more current strss7 releases above.
